Our History
Forest Training Institute, Chikhaldara was established in 1972 and is one of the two premier forestry training institutes in Vidarbha region. The institute's foundation was laid in 1967-68 when 16.57 hectares of land was allotted through the District Collector of Amravati. Initially, the main objective was to train officers of the rank of Forest Range Officer.
Throughout its history, the institute has evolved with changing needs and has been known by different names:
- 1972-1976: Forest Guard Training Association
- 1976-1980: Forest Guard Training Institute
- 1981-2016: Maharashtra Forest Rangers' College, Chikhaldara
- 2016-Present: Forest Training Institute, Chikhaldara
Today, the institute provides comprehensive training to Forest Guards, Foresters, and Ministerial Staff, preparing them for the challenges of modern forest management and conservation.
Our campus

Training Programs

Forest Guard Training
Comprehensive training for entry-level forest personnel covering basic forestry, wildlife identification, legal aspects, and field techniques.
Forester Training
Advanced training for mid-level management focusing on forest administration, resource management, and conservation planning.
Ministerial Staff Training
Specialized training for administrative personnel covering office management, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
